Sihanoukville
Hotels & Guesthouses (by price)
Sihanoukville town sits in the center of a small peninsula that juts
into the Gulf of Thailand. surrounded on three sides by beaches with
the downtown area near the center of the peninsula. It is currently
the low season in Sihanoukville (May-October) and many of the hotels
are offering excellent low season deals. Shop around for the best
price. Guesthouses in Sihanoukville rack at around $3-$20, mid-range
places run $35-$85, and the few upscale resorts are generally $120+.
Most accommodations are concentrated into four areas: downtown, the
Ochheuteal Beach area, Otres Beach the Victory Hill. Ochheuteal is
the most popular beach and has a range of places. Otres is further
from town and a bit more secluded with rustic bungalows, several
guesthouses and a few upmarket places.

Ochheuteal Beach
Ochheuteal Beach is by far the most
popular and touristed beach in town. Ochheuteal is long,
sandy and comparatively narrow, with ‘Serendipity Beach’
at the arcing northern end. Most of the hotels,
guesthouses and restaurants are on and around the
northern half of the beach.
The area has a good selection of
accommodations ranging from mid-range to budget with
most on the roads paralleling the beach and Serendipity
Beach Road. A few bungalows are also tucked up amongst
the headlands at either end of the beach.. |

Victory area
On the north side of town, Victory Beach sits at the base of the
popular Victory Hill. Victory Beach offers one of the best
sunset views in town but unfortunately the beach is partially
closed.
Above Victory Beach, Victory Hill offers a variety of
guesthouses, restaurants and bars. Several places, both budget
and mid-range dot the side of the Hill overlooking the ocean,
some offering excellent sunset views. The very top of hill is
one of Sihanoukville’s nightlife hotspots. The hilltop road is
lined with hostess bars, music and sport bars as well as a few
restaurants. |

Downtown area
The Downtown Area sits central on the peninsula, about five
minutes by tuk-tuk from the beaches in both directions. A fairly
compact area, the downtown is only about two kilometers wide
with most of the businesses strung along the main street and
within a couple of blocks either side. Several lower mid-range
hotels and budget guesthouses, bars and restaurants dot the
downtown area, as well as convenience stores, the main market,
gas stations, banks, pharmacies and other businesses. |

Otres Beach
Otres is a bit further from
town than the main beaches, offering a more relaxed, chill-out
atmosphere. Beach shacks and bungalows line the near and far
ends.
The Near End...
At the northern ‘near end’ of the beach (Otres 1) dozens of
beachshack bars and restaurants squeeze together along a
kilometer of sand. There are also a dozen-plus guesthouses and
bungalows lining the beachfront road 20 meters from the water.
The Far End...
The ‘far end’ of Otres Beach (Otres 2) on the south side of the
development area has a more secluded atmosphere than the near
end but still offers several beach bars and restaurants as well
as accommodations along the sand including a couple of very nice
upper mid-range places.
Otres River Village...
About a half-kilometer behind Otres Beach 2 is Otres River
Village - an Aquarian corner on the the Otres River with an
eclectic mix of people, accommodations and drinking places in an
eco-friendly laid back environment. Set amongst mangrove forest
along a small lake and estuary. |
